Nationality Checking Service

Note: Due to high demand it is very difficult to reach us by telephone at the moment. We are able to see between ten and twenty appointments a day, on Monday 23 March we had more than 150 applications for these appointments. We will do our best to help you but are already working at full capacity. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Please remember you can use any office which offers this service, or can send applications to the Home Office without using the checking service (see the Home Office website in the external links section below).

Haringey Council offers the Nationality Checking Service (NCS) for British Citizenship applications.

This service includes:

  • making sure your application is correctly filled in
  • checking, copying and certifying your documents so that you can keep originals
    (NB Original Life in UK test, ESOL or medical reports must be sent)
  • submitting your application by secure post.

Please note, that if you fail to bring any of the relevant documents, you will be required to book another appointment.

Appointments

You need an appointment to use the Checking Service. Applicants should come into the Register Office or call on 020 8489 2604 / 2605 to make an appointment. You will be asked for your Life in the UK test ID number as a booking reference. You may not book an appointment without this number unless you have ESOL or grounds for exemption. You will not be seen without an appointment. We will not make an appointment more than one week in advance.

On the day of the appointment all adult applicants will need to come with their completed application forms and all the supporting documents.

Home office fees must be paid by Cheque, Postal Order or Credit card. Haringey's fees must be paid by Cash or Cheque only.

Fees

Adult Application: £34.50 each
Minors application (children under 18 years): £23.00 each
Joint Application (married couple or Civil Partners): £57.50
