The Ceremony of your dreams
We want you to have the celebration of your dreams whether that is a small and intimate celebration in The Civic Suite or a grand celebration in a large approved venue like Alexandra Palace which can cater for hundreds if not thousands of people.
We welcome special requests and we can cater for things such as couples wishing to walk down the aisle and the playing of music of a couple’s choice. In order to gives us the best chance of fulfilling special requests we ask for as much notice as possible of a your wishes (a minimum of 7 working days) . We have a choice of ceremony scripts including a template should you wish to build your own.
By choosing The Civic Suite or one of our approved premises you and your guests can benefit from our unhurried and tailored service to deliver the ceremony that you want. Below are just some suggestions and ideas for making your ceremony extra special.

What better way to make a ceremony unique to you than by writing your own wedding vows. Provided that any legal words are spoken and there is no religious content we are happy to accommodate requests for special vows to be used. Any special vows should be provided to us in advance of the ceremony to ensure that they can be smoothly put into the ceremony.
|Back to topWords of love and commitment to one another
Couples can write a few words to read out in front of each other, saying about their experiences of being together and as a symbol of their love and commitment to one another.
|Back to topFamily speakers
Members of the wedding / civil partnership party may read out some words about what the couple mean to them and welcoming new members into their families. This is a great way to get all of the family involved in the proceedings.
|Back to topPoetry readings
A couple can choose poems to be read out to their guests as a way of making the ceremony more interesting. A quick search of Google will list various poems. We also have a selection of poems that can be seen in the Register Office to guide you.
|Back to topSongs and music
A couple may wish to invite along a singer, choir or musician to either sing / play to their guests or for the guests to sing to their music. Please note that all equipment must be battery operated.
We have a range of CD's but you are also welcome to bring along your own. Our equipment is also able to accept USB sticks and we are happy to play any music of your choice provided that it is non religious in content.
|Back to topThemed weddings
We encourage individuality and are open to requests for themed weddings. Maybe you and your football team want to dress in your full kit or you and your guests want to dress up as characters from your favourite film, whatever it is please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate it.
|Back to topPhotography and video
We allow plenty of time for the taking of photographs and filming by your chosen photographer. Once your ceremony has been completed your wider party of guests are encouraged to come forward and take photos with the celebrating couple.
Our team is able to offer advice and suggestions about getting the best photographs from your special day. A ;large number of professional photographers are in the local area, unfortunately we cannot make recommendation about which photographer to choose. After your ceremony has been completed our Commonwealth Garden and spiral staircase and main reception offer further opportunities for the taking of photographs.
|Back to topSimple ceremonies
A wedding or civil partnership can be as simple as a couple and their two witnesses attending The Civic Suite after giving their notice of marriage / civil partnership. There is no need to have any special words, guests or even have rings. As long as the declatory and contractual words prescribed by law are read out by a bride and groom for marriage and civil partners sign a Schedule a couple can be legally joined together with the minimum of hassle.
