Bereavement

Bereavement Services

Losing a loved one is always a difficult time. Once a body has been released for burial or cremation (please see the births, deaths and marriages page for more information), those having to organise the ceremony often don’t know where to start or what to do.

Haringey’s Bereavement Services provide well-organised, dignified and sensitive burials and cremations. Services are tailored to suit all beliefs and staff are always on hand to offer assistance or advice.

Tottenham and Wood Green Cemeteries provide for burials and Enfield Cemetery and Crematorium allows for cremations and burials.

Memorials such as rose bushes, plaques and the book of remembrance are also offered.

Arranging a Funeral

Most funerals are arranged through a funeral director. The choice of a firm of funeral directors is important, as you should feel comfortable and confident with them. Details of funeral directors can be obtained from hospitals, telephone directories or use the UK Funeral Guide and Directory. You can access the website using the link in the External Links section below.

Where no suitable arrangements can be made for a funeral, the council can sometimes provide funds and organise the funeral for those who die without family or friends - this is a duty of the Council.
