Teenage Intervention Service

The primary focus of the work of the TIS (Teenage Intervention Service) Team is to work with young people aged 10-16 and their families to promote family welfare and to prevent family breakdown.

The TIS  Team believe that where it is deemed to be in the young persons best interests, they are best cared for in their own families and will provide services in order to support this.

The work of the TIS Team is largely based on a Brief Solution Focused Therapy.

The essence of which is as follows:

  • to work with the person rather than the problem
  • to look for resources rather than deficits
  • to explore possible and preferred futures
  • to explore what is already contributing to those possible futures
  • and to treat clients as the experts in all aspects of their lives.

The TIS Team operate a rapid response service which means that referrals meeting our criteria will be allocated and families will be contacted within 48 hours of receipt of a completed referral.

TIS offer time-limited, intensive support packages of 6 weeks which can be extended to 8 weeks if required.

If further work is required, TIS will refer the family onto relevant agencies as necessary.

The services are voluntary and families must agree with being referred to the TIS Team.
