Childcare Brokerage Service

We offer support to parents who are experiencing difficulty in finding suitable childcare for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

We provide advice and assistance to parents who use or want to use childcare in the borough of Haringey.

Our job is to:

  • note your difficulties and additional needs including medical, allergies and overall health requirements

We can support your search for childcare by:

  • Helping you navigate through the information available
  • Checking whether cost is a barrier to finding suitable childcare and whether you have considered all possible entitlements
  • Encouraging you to widen your search criteria if appropriate
  • Contacting local providers on your behalf
  • Introducing you to providers
  • Where appropriate, arranging and attending initial meetings between you and providers
  • Building partnerships with a variety of providers to meet your needs.

Section 12 (5) of the Childcare Act 2006 requires all local authorities to provide advice and assistance to parents or prospective parents who use or propose to use childcare in the area of the local authority. The act states:

“Further assistance should be offered where parents do not find childcare that readily meets their needs or would face difficulty in using the service”.
