Northumberland Park Community School (NPCS)

NPCS is focused on responding to the needs of its local community and is driven by the determination to provide its students with an excellent education. In 2006 the school was ranked in the top 50 secondary schools England for the amount of progress made by its students during their five years of compulsory secondary education. NPCS is also listed as the seventh most improved school in the country for the period 2003-2006.

During the last four years examination results have nearly quadrupled with 70% of students gaining five or more higher grade passes at GCSE or equivalent in 2007. The school was inspected by OFSTED in Nov 2006 who judged NPCS to be a good school with outstanding features. The OFSTED report said –

“Students see their school as a happy place and speak compellingly about the benefits they have gained”

“Behavior in lessons and around the school is generally good and this is an area of significant improvement”

“The curriculum is good. The school provides good opportunities for all learners, including those with learning difficulties and disabilities, to achieve well.

"The procedures to assess and monitor students’ progress are rigorous and impact positively on their achievement”
