The new LRC

Building Schools for the Future (BSF) at Northumberland Park Community School

This £16.5m project was completed in September 2010. Today students and staff are now enjoying the new facilities created as part of Building Schools for the Future.

Making a real difference

The new facilities at Northumberland Park Community School are enabling new ways of teaching and learning, and feature:

  • New Food Technology classrooms
  • A new Learning Resource Centre
  • A new inclusive learning wing with a linking 'Heart' space with The Vale school
  • New teacher resource areas
  • Refurbished classrooms and dining areas
  • New server room and cabling for the ICT (interactive white boards, computers) in classrooms

Making it happen

The scheme was granted planning permission in July 2008.

New refurbished blocks

Construction work began on the project in April 2009.

New facilities for Food Technology and dining were complete and being used by the school in October 2010.

The Architect  for the school is Building Design Partnership (BDP).

Environmental Information

The scheme at Northumberland Park aims to achieve an independent environmental rating (BREEAM) of ‘Very Good’.
