Building Schools for the Future (BSF) at the Young People's Centre

The school has a clear vision for the future to provide students with the opportunity for more personalised learning, enhance the school’s inclupsion programme and continue to develop the school in the local community.

The main features of this project include:

  • A new hub at the centre of the school providing a new Internet style café
  • The current building will be transformed to provide music, food technology and design technology / art accommodation as well as a central dining area
  • The existing administration area will be remodelled to provide a therapy suite, staff and professional accommodation
  • New ICT (Computers, interactive whiteboards), cabling, server rooms and floor distributors for ICT throughout the entire school

The Architect for the school is Watkins Gray International. The Contractor is Breyer Group. Find out more in Meet the Contractors.

The scheme was granted planning permission in September 2009

The project went on site in June 09

Estimated Completion Date: Spring 2010

Environmental Information

The scheme at Young People’s Centre aims to achieve an independent environmental rating (BREEAM) of ‘Very Good’.
