BSF will lead to exciting building designs, state-of-the-art technology and flexible space for school and community use; all of which will truly inspire learning. The Children and Young People's Service with governors, headteachers, schools’ staff and other stakeholders are working with advisors to examine how our schools should look and function into the 21st Century.
In 2005 we assessed the quality of buildings at our secondary schools for their suitability and their potential to accommodate the transformation required to achieve our vision. This, added to an assessment of the greatest educational need, was used to create a formula that determined how the BSF investment would be allocated across Haringey.
The level of allocation, along with the schools’ own visions, is informing plans for the future of each school site. BSF will lead to exciting building designs, state-of-the-art technology and flexible space for school and community use; all of which will truly inspire learning.
The first school to open was a brand new Sixth Form Centre, which opened its doors in September 2007 (see External Links section below for the Sixth Form Centre website). All other schools will have phased work that will run from early 2008 to late 2011, with the new school in the Heartlands opening in September 2010.
All secondary schools will start to see immediate improvements under BSF through the enhancement of their ICT facilities, which will commence during the school year 2007/8
