BSF Principles
The main principles of the Government’s Building Schools programme are:
- to place schools firmly at the heart of their communities.
- to act as the major component of social and economic regeneration.
- to harness the community in the task of raising achievement for all learners.
DfES will fund Building Schools for the Future (BSF) in a series of 15 ‘Waves’ from 2004 to 2016.
Our developments will take place in both Wave 2 (east borough schools) and Wave 4 (west borough schools. The BSF initiative has provided significant investment that will directly support our Bright Futures strategy and help us achieve our vision for education.
Andy Kilpatrick, Headteacher, Northumberland Park School, says:
"The BSF programme is an amazing opportunity that will help to secure and drive forward the step change in standards which has been undertaken by Haringey’s secondary schools over the past few years. The programme will lead to the creation of learning environments centred on the undoubted educational power of information technology, and which provide the flexibility demanded by 21st Century curriculum design. BSF will provide a further impetus for the best teachers to make Haringey their career destination of choice, providing them with resources and surroundings to match the rapidly rising aspirations of Haringey’s young people.”
