Rhodes Avenue expansion

Rhodes Avenue Primary School is changing. The school is being modernised and expanded, so that eventually, there will be three classes in each year, with around 30 children in each class. This is known as three forms of entry.

Why expand Rhodes Avenue?

We are increasing the number of pupils able to attend Rhodes Avenue Primary School because demand for places in and around the Alexandra ward remains high and projections overall for Haringey show a continuing rise in primary pupil numbers. We need to plan to ensure that we have sufficient primary places to meet demand.

Project update

The new school year brings a new Boulevard entrance for all pupils, parents, staff and visitors will access the Boulevard via Rhodes Avenue.. The Boulevard will not only offer a direct, secure route into the school for all parents, pupils, staff and visitors, it has also been designed to support learning and play.

The existing oak tree remains a key feature at the entrance to the school with a carefully designed circular bench seat and breathable permeable surface.

The area to the rear of theyear 6 block has been transformed, providing additional habitat space for play and teaching. The pond area around the Quad has been made safe, which together with the area above, has maximised space.

The Rhodes Avenue project is part of our Primary and Pre-School programme which aims to improve educational opportunities for children aged from 0 to 11 years. The vision which supports this programme is set out in the Council's Primary and Pre-school Programme document.
