National Curriculum and Key Stages
The national curriculum states which subjects children must study at school. It also divides them into age groups called key stages. Each key stage defines a range of subjects that must be taught to children within the age range of that key stage.

Exclusion from school
Exclusion means excluding a child from a maintained school on disciplinary grounds. Only the head teacher has the power to exclude a pupil from school.

Supervised Medication
If pupils need to take prescription medication during the school or nursery day it is essential this is provided in an official chemist / hospital container, accompanied by written parental permission.

School Meals
Catering staff work in partnership with schools and health advisors, educating and promoting healthy lifestyles to the adults of the future. A menu toolkit is now available in all primary schools.

Parental and Community Involvement (PCI)
The PCI team provides information, advice, training and support to families with children in our schools so that parents/carers are able to play a more active role in children and young people’s educational lives.
