Glody is a four year old girl who has experienced a disrupted life. She was brought to this country from the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2006. It is believed her parents were killed in a traffic accident in 2005. Glody was taken into care in March 2006. She has been with her current carer since July 2007. She is a healthy child who enjoys company and loves chatting. Glody eats most foods but can sometimes over-eat although she is not overweight. She is a tall child and is mature for her age. There is no health information regarding her birth parents.

Glody loves wearing her hair in beaded plaits and also likes to choose her own clothes, particularly skirts and dresses. She loves African music and dancing and enjoys playing with her dolls. She has a wide circle of friends at nursery. She is a calm and peaceful child who likes being held and cuddled but can sometimes become annoyed when she doesn’t get what she wants immediately. Glody received a very positive report from her nursery, who described her as sociable and a joy to get to know and teach. They noted: “She particularly likes the ‘messy’ sensory table, using her body to explore a variety of textures. She behaves well but needs help preparing for any major changes in routine.”

Legal: Care Order/Placement Order.

Ethnic Descent: Black African – Congolese

Religion: Christian

Family required:

We are seeking a black African adoptive family for Glody. Due to the trauma of her early life, Glody will need carers who are able to help and support her with the emotional and therapeutic input she will require once settled. Ideally we are seeking a two parent family but will consider a single parent with a very strong support network. Preferably she will need to be the only and youngest child in placement although we may consider a family with a much older child.
