Parental and Community Involvement (PCI)

The Parental and Community Involvement (PCI) Team provides information, advice, training and support to families with children in our schools so that parents/carers are able to play a more active role in children and young people’s educational lives.

Some of the ways in which we support parents and carers are:

  • Finding school places throughout the school year
  • Providing help and support at key transition times i.e. transferring to primary or secondary school
  • Support at Special Educational Needs (SEN) meetings to ensure that parents fully understand the nature of their child’s SEN and that their views are taken into consideration
  • Conflict resolution meetings to help to maintain successful partnership between home and school
  • At parents evenings to ensure that you get the full picture of your child's progress at school
  • Training sessions to equip you with the right information so that parents are able to work in partnership with schools to ensure that children and young people achieve their best
  • We have an extensive range of resources for parents to support learning at home

We work in partnership with community organisations to ensure that their service users have relevant up to date information about the education system. We also run advice surgeries and training sessions on a regular basis. Most members of our team are bilingual and speak the main community languages in Haringey.
