Pupil Premium Grant (PPG)
What is the Pupil Premium Grant?
- Pupil Premium Grant for Vulnerable Pupils:
- Many schools have been allocated additional funding to support vulnerable pupils. Children in care are regarded as vulnerable and therefore should benefit from the general PPG allocated for Vulnerable children.
- LAC Pupil Premium Grant:
- Children in care continuously from 6 months prior to April of each year are eligible for the LAC PPG, This is child/young person specific targeted funding to raise their attainment
- Use of the Pupil Premium should be recorded on the PEP. See: How schools can use the LAC Pupil Premium Grant (see link below)
- Each eligible pupil is allocated £600 for 2012 to 2013
- Local authorities are responsible for distributing the Pupil Premium payments for LAC to schools and academies
- Children educated in Haringey but looked after by another local authority, will have their Pupil Premium paid through the authority that looks after them (not Haringey)
- The local authority has discretion about how the Pupil Premium is used for children educated in non-mainstream settings .
