London 2012
The Olympic and Paralympic Games
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is set to be the biggest and most exciting sporting event the world has ever seen.
The Games will create a lasting legacy of social, physical and economic regeneration for London. Here in Haringey we will strive to share in that legacy and secure the greatest benefits for our communities.
The council have produced a document entitled 2012 A legacy for Haringey (see attached files section below) that outlines our plans and provides information on how you can get involved, whether by playing more sport, volunteering or gaining new skills and qualifications to help you access Olympic job opportunities.
Over the next 3 years there will be great opportunities for our residents, young people and residents to take advantage of the many opportunities that the games will bring to London. We will run a wide range of initiatives and events that will help us to create a lasting Olympic legacy for the people, places and prosperity of Haringey.
Haringey 2012 Fund
The council has created a grant fund that will help to involve our communities in celebrating the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games coming to London.
Local arts organisations, schools and sports clubs have already accessed over £75,000 from the fund to deliver a wide range of projects. These projects, which will be delivered over the next 12 months include
- a schools sports programme
- an exhibition to celebrate Haringey's sporting history,
