Winona's Fresh Organic
Winona’s manufacture high quality, entirely organic cookie mixes, bread and cakes to the retail sector. They have a number of prestigious contracts, including Waitrose, Selfridges, Fresh and Wild and John Lewis in Oxford Street.

Alex Amousu
Alex started up his ring tone business in 1999 and is now estimated to be worth £10 million. As well as being a very successful businessman, Alex volunteers his time to a number of local organisations including KIS and GAP to offer business advice to local residents and SMEs.

Best New Business
The Big Green Bookshop
Wood Green’s only bookshop opened in March 2008 and has already built up a large and supportive customer base following the closure of Waterstone’s. Its education programme includes school visits and a regular Wednesday session in store with a children’s author and different school each week.

Best Business Support Project
KIS Training
Based in Tottenham Hale, over the last three years KIS Training has delivered a wide range of business support, including working with over 1000 NEETS (people not in employment, education or training), getting 750 unemployed people into further education training, and assisting and advising more than 2,000 entrepreneurs. In the same timespan KIS has also helped more than 400 local start-up businesses. KIS employs 55 people, 30 of whom are resident in the Upper Lee Valley.

Best Growth Cultural Business
Vjem
A specialist event planning and management company, Vjem have positioned themselves as an expert in the planning and management of outdoor and special events not just in the events industry, but also in the public and private sectors which they operate within. The company provides employment to young people in areas such as festival management, customer service and on site management during the summer months.

Most Successful New Creative Business
The Master Kilt Maker
Thomas O’Shea is one of only 26 master kilt makers in the world. Based at the enterprise units at Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Thomas has a growing business with an impressive portfolio of clients. He has helped to set up the London kilt making guild in association with the London School of Fashion and his product is now dominating the London market. All of his cloth is sourced from within the UK.

Best Retailer
Thornton's Budgens
An independently-run supermarket in Crouch End that is fighting off the challenge of two major chains, Budgen currently serves 22,000 customers per week and employs 85 people. The shop has distinguished itself from other supermarkets by stocking and branding local produce and leading on environmental awareness campaigns. These include “The Pennies for Plastic Appeal”, through which it donated a penny to charity for each plastic bag that was not used in the store.

Bistro Aix
Based in Tottenham Lane, Crouch End, Aix is one of north London’s top French bistros. Chef/proprietor Lynne Marie Sanders trained in some of France’s best establishments and provide home-style cuisine in a delightfully romantic setting.

H Glickman
These locally-run ironmongers and tool merchants have served the area and gained a reputation for choice, quality and service. The current managing director started work there as a schoolboy in 1962, is Tottenham born and bred and still lives above the shop. It is believed to be one of the oldest businesses in Tottenham, having been originally established in 1880.
