Benefits

You may be eligible to claim benefits, but do you know what is available?

We provide information and advice on the full range of welfare benefits and entitlements that are available to residents. This includes:

  • providing comprehensive benefits advice as part of charging for community care;
  • providing easy to follow online information and useful external links to government websites;
  • actively promoting the take-up of benefits through advice surgeries, campaigns and events around the borough;
  • keeping staff up to date with changes to the benefits system.

The links in the navigation menu on the left-hand side will lead you to easy-to-follow information on benefits and work, disability benefits, as well as benefits for carers, older people and families.

The information is accurate at the time of publication and is intended as a general guide, not a full statement of benefit regulations or related law.

Go to the External Links section and visit EntitledTo - a website which will provide you with:

  • a guide to benefits and tax credits
  • free calculators to help you work out your entitlements.
