Haringey's domestic violence advice and support centre

Hearthstone provides survivors of domestic violence in Haringey with access to all the support they will need in one place.

The centre offers:

• a full assessment of risk and support needs of survivors of domestic violence
• advice and support on practical options such as housing and legal remedies
• access to emotional support via counselling and art/drama therapy
• referrals to a range of statutory and voluntary sector agencies to provide a holistic package of support.

The people working in Hearthstone all have considerable professional expertise of supporting survivors of domestic violence. They are able to ensure that people contact agencies at the right time and, when they do, they are adequately prepared. They are also able to make referrals for longer term support and assistance.

Advice on health and legal services can also be provided. Our service standards are listed below in the attached files section.

Importance of Hearthstone

At a difficult time in their lives, survivors can find the pressure of having to contact lots of different agencies extremely stressful. Estimates show that, on average, an individual has to contact nine different agencies to get their lives back on track. These can include the local council, police and health workers.

To help victims remain in their own home the council runs the Sanctuary Scheme. See leaflet in attached files section below.

Contacting Hearthstone

Hearthstone Domestic Violence Advice and Support Centre has now moved back to Commerce Road following successful expansion works to the building.

You can drop in to Hearthstone Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, or telephone to make an appointment, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
