Part of: The Mayor of Haringey

Haringey Heroes celebrates the best of our community. Every year residents can nominate anyone who makes a difference from outstanding achievers to compassionate caregivers or simply a supportive friend.

Haringey Heroes Awards 2024

On Sunday 17 March the Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Lester Buxton, alongside Captain Peter Baker, Deputy Lieutenant of Haringey, hosted the 2024 Haringey Heroes Award ceremony.

Nearly 100 local heroes were celebrated this year! These amazing people went above and beyond to make Haringey a better place. From ensuring everyone has food and warmth to inspiring our youth and showing compassion to those around them.

These awards recognized the dedication and service of everyone, from those working at food banks to selfless neighbours. These unsung heroes displayed incredible dedication, compassion and service.

We would like to give a special mention to:

  • Emma Watson-Horsewood
  • Dr Mek Mehmet-Yesil
  • Matt Brownlee

Their commendable actions have had significant reach into our communities, and their efforts are worthy of particular recognition.

The Mayor, Cllr Lester Buxton, who presented the awards said:

Haringey Heroes has been one of the highlights of my Mayoral year. Throughout my term I’ve seen people working tirelessly to improve their communities. None of them do it for fame or fortune, but I hope these awards make them realise they are appreciated by the council and their people whose lives they enrich.

Look out for the launch of the next Haringey Heroes Awards early next year!
