Extra time for Spurs Opus auction

Publication date: Tuesday 15 May 2012

Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Gina Adamou with the Opus

Spurs fans have been given extra time to get their hands on a limited edition Opus charting the club's history.

The Club Edition Opus was donated by Tottenham Hotspur FC to Mayor of Haringey Cllr Gina Adamou to boost her fundraising efforts.

Cllr Adamou has been inviting written bids for the Opus in an auction to raise money for her chosen charity – supporting the borough’s carers.  And she has extended the deadline for bids to 31 May to allow more fans to take a shot at trying to land the Opus.

Cllr Adamou said:

“I know that there are thousands of Spurs fans in Haringey who might be interested in owning the Opus, and I want to give as many of them as possible the chance to put in a bid.

“It’s an amazing book in mint condition and a chance for Spurs fans to celebrate their club’s illustrious history in style.

“Every penny raised from the auction will go towards supporting carers in Haringey, so I hope that people will dig deep for such a worthy cause.”

The Opus is one of just 1,000 ever published. It charts 125 years of Tottenham Hotspur history and includes interviews with key players and chapters covering rivalry with Arsenal; legendary fans, and the greatest Spurs players of all time.

The leather-bound book measures 50cm by 50cm, weighs more than 30 kilos, is 800 pages long and contains around 300,000 words and 1,500 photos.

Written bids for the Opus should be clearly marked “Spurs Opus Auction” and should include your full name, address, telephone number and the value of your bid.  Bids should be sent to:

The Mayor’s Parlour
Haringey Civic Centre
High Road
N22 8LE

to arrive by midday on 31 May.
