Haringey Libraries in collaboration with Black History Studies film screening: African History On Sports
- Saturday 21 October 2017, 6pm to 9pm
At least five thousand years ago, various ancient African civilisations invented a Grand Philosophy, which they called several names including 'Sewetwet' and 'Sedjay Her'.
For the peoples of the Nile, this philosophy was the ultimate union of brain, brawn and spirit. They used it for pleasure, military training, governance and foreign policy - and placed it on par with intellectual fields in religion, law, medicine and art.
These activities have become known and popularly practiced in sport.
