The Disabled People Sports Day, organised by Haringey Council, gave disabled people from across the borough a chance to try out a range of specially tailored sessions and equipment.

The council hopes the day, which included football, swimming, gym sessions and trampolining, will encourage more disabled people to make regular use of Tottenham Green Leisure Centre, in Philip Lane, N15.

Attendees had the chance to meet coaches trained to help disabled people get the most out of sports and exercise, as well as try out the SHOKK gym at the centre, which has been specially modified to meet the needs of young and disabled people.

Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Lifelong Learning, Cllr Dhiren Basu, said:

"We are proud that Tottenham Green is one of the leading leisure centres in the country when it comes to coaching, equipment and sports sessions for disabled people.

"The Sports Day was a great way of ensuring more disabled people were made aware of what’s on offer at Tottenham Green.

"I was pleased to see so many people at the Sports Day and I hope they will be inspired to become regular visitors."
