Christmas in Haringey 2017 – office opening hours for the festive season

During the Christmas and New Year period there will be changes to a number of Haringey Council services, with reduced opening hours and changes to normal waste and recycling collection days.

Homes for Haringey will be running a weekend service from 24 December 2017 to 1 January 2018. See the Homes for Haringey website for details.

Customer services

Customer Service Centres

Marcus Garvey Customer Service Centre:

  • Monday 25 December 2017 - closed
  • Tuesday 26 December 2017 - closed
  • Wednesday 27 December 2017 - open 10am-5pm
  • Thursday 28 December 2017 - open 9am-5pm
  • Friday 29 December 2017 - open 9am-5pm
  • Monday 1 January 2018 - closed

Wood Green Customer Service Centre:

  • Monday 25 December 2017 - closed
  • Tuesday 26 December 2017 - closed
  • Wednesday 27 December 2017 - open 10am-5pm
  • Thursday 28 December 2017 - open 9am-5pm
  • Friday 29 December 2017 - open 9am-5pm

Both Customer Service Centres will operate a normal service on the days they are open.

Social media channels: please note that over the Christmas and New Year, our social media channels will only be monitored for service requests on the days Customer Services are open (see above).

Call Centre

The Call Centre will be closed on:

  • Monday 25 December 2017
  • Tuesday 26 December 2017
  • Wednesday 27 December 2017
  • Thursday 28 December 2017
  • Friday 29 December 2017
  • Monday 1 January 2018

An emergency out of hours service will be available during this period.

The Call Centre will operate as normal on the days leading up to Christmas and after the New Year.

Refuse and Recycling

Bin collection dates

There will be changes to your collection day over the Christmas and New Year period for the weeks commencing Monday 25 December 2017 and Monday 1 January 2018:

  • Collections for the week immediately after Christmas will take place two days later than usual
  • Collections for the week immediately after the New Year will take place one day later than usual
  • Normal collections will resume on Monday 8 January 2018

The reuse and recycling Centre is closed on 25 and 26 December 2017, and 1 January 2018.

Parking

Bank holiday parking

Free parking is available in all council-run pay by phone bays and car parks on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, although matchday restrictions may still apply.

Parking Permits

Residents may renew their residential parking permits online during the holiday period, although they will not be processed on bank holidays.

Bruce Castle Museum and Archive

The museum and Haringey archive will be closed to the public from Saturday 23 December 2017 to Tuesday 2 January 2018. Normal visiting hours will resume from Wednesday 3 January 2018.

Adult social care

If older and vulnerable residents need any help or support, then they should call 020 8489 1400 during normal office hours. Out of office hours, including during weekends and bank holidays, the number to call is 020 8489 0000.

  • The Community Alarm/Telecare Service is a 24 hour/365 day service, so this will be operating as normal over the holiday period
  • Clarendon Recovery College will close at 3.30pm on Friday 22 December 2017 and will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 January 2018
  • Ermine Community hub will close at 2pm on Friday 22 December 2017 and will reopen as normal on Wednesday 3 January 2018
  • Haynes Day Centre will close at 2pm on Friday 22 December 2017 and will reopen on Wednesday 3 January 2018
  • Winkfield Resource Centre will close at 2pm on Friday 22 December 2017 and will reopen at 9am on Wednesday 3 January 2018
  • Meals on wheels services will operate over the Christmas/New Year period - please check specific details with your provider

Community equipment - Medequip Service Arrangements

Residents with community equipment on loan from us - such as pressure mattresses and hoists - should note that Medequip, the provider that delivers, collects and recycles this equipment has the following reduced hours during the Christmas period:

  • Monday 18 December to Friday 22 December 2017 - normal service, 8am-5pm
  • Saturday 23 December to Tuesday 26 December 2017 - out of hours emergency service
  • Wednesday 27 December to Friday 29 December 2017 - normal service, 8am-5pm
  • Saturday 30 December 2017 to Monday 1 January 2018 - out of hours emergency service
  • Tuesday 2 January to Friday 5 January 2018 - normal service, 8am-5pm

Schools and Children’s Centres

Haringey schools break up for the Christmas holidays on Friday 22 December 2017 and will return for the spring term on Wednesday 3 January 2018.

Some schools may also have training days, so please check directly with your child’s school to confirm the return date for pupils.

Children’s Centres on school sites will generally have the same term dates as schools, but again please check directly with your child’s centre. Contact details can be found in our Children’s Centres section.
