Student Support Post 16-19 Transport
All 16-17 year olds and some 18 year olds living in London and in full-time education or training get free travel on London’s buses and trams.
They will only have to pay half the adult fare on the tube, buses, trams and the dockland light railway (DLR).
All 16-17 year olds must apply for the new 16+ Oyster photocard.
How to get your 16+ student Oyster photocard
Application forms are available from
- tube stations
- post offices in the Greater London area
- and some schools may also have supplies
Along with the application form, you must provide
- Either a valid passport, ID card (from a European Economic Area (EEA) country) or birth certificate
- Passport sized photograph
- £20 payment
You must also get your school or college to validate your application form once you have started the course. You may also apply online subject to certain conditions - see the TfL website (external link).
