Need help following a bereavement?

A wide range of organisations provide help for people organising funerals and to assist with the grieving process. Details of some support services can be found on the help and contacts page.

Arranging a Funeral

Most funerals are arranged through a funeral director. The choice of a firm of funeral directors is important, as you should feel comfortable and confident with them. Details of funeral directors can be obtained from hospitals, telephone directories or use the UK Funeral Guide and Directory website (external link).

Where no suitable arrangements can be made for a funeral, the council can sometimes provide funds and organise the funeral for those who die without family or friends - this is a duty of the council.
